Student-Centered Leadership by Viviane Robinson
This year our principal cohort was given this book as a book study. In chapter one Robinson describes the book as,
“providing leaders with guidance about how to make a bigger difference to their students…” pp. 1.
Robinson then goes on to describe how studies enabled her to sort leadership practices into five broad categories. The effect size of each of these categories is also shared so we know where best to spend our time.
Another interesting part of the book is that Robinson identifies three leadership capabilities that are required by leaders in order to apply the five dimensions in their own contexts.
This is an easy to read and understand book. I find it to be a great guide and handbook and highly relevant for any prinicipal to own.
